FARID - In Zurich or somewhere

A film about Zurich told from the perspective of those who live on the margins of society: sans papiers, rejected asylum seekers, foreign vagrants, illegal prostitutes searching for a home here in one way or another. The focus of the film is on the Palestinian author Farid Dhamra, a rejected asylum seeker and his impending deportation to Israel. He keeps a diary, jotting notes about the shattered dreams of migrants who live more or less illegally in Zurich – and in isolation. Farid writes and writes, as if bearing witness to his own deportation.

Pino Esposito ( Director and writer )

Born in Rossano Calabro, Italy. Italian citizenship. Studied architecture, cinema and theatre at the University of Florence.
Received degree in video, sound and graphics from the Zurich Multimedia School. Founded the Oziosazio theatre company.
Has lived in Zurich since 1994 and works as director for the stage and as filmmaker.
His films have participated in numerous international film festivals including the Locarno Film Festival, the Fespaco(Panafrican Film and Television Festival of Ouagadougou ) and the Doclisboa (member of Doc Alliance), to name a few.
